Corvera Airport: Best in Europe for 2023

Murcia’s Corvera Airport, or Aeropuerto Internacional de la Región de Murcia as it’s officially known, has been crowned the Best Airport in Europe in its category for the second consecutive year, solidifying its reputation as a premier travel hub in southern Spain.

This prestigious award, presented by the Airports Council International (ACI) World ASQ Awards, recognises the airport’s unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional passenger experience.

Corvera Airport’s triumph is all the more impressive given the stiff competition from other European terminals. The award is divided into categories based on passenger traffic, and Murcia International emerged victorious in the ‘less than two million passengers’ category.

But Corvera Airport wasn’t the only Spanish aerodrome to receive accolades. Aena, the airport operator, received a total of 15 awards across nine airports in its network, including Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández and Menorca, among others.

According to the organisers of the event, these awards highlight the exceptional quality of service and facilities offered by Spanish airports, making them a benchmark for the rest of the industry.

The ACI World ASQ Awards ceremony, held in Atlanta, USA from September 23-26, was a resounding success for Spanish airports. In addition to Corvera’s win, several other airports received recognition in various categories.

Some notable mentions include:

Tenerife’s El Hierro also took home several prizes, including Most Enjoyable Airport in Europe, which it shared with Barcelona, and Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe, an award recognising the “dedication, kindness and courtesy” of the staff.
